Meanwhile, 21-year-old Zegler discussed her upcoming role as Snow White in the new adaptation of the beloved 1937 animated film. The West Side Story actress shared that her character is on a journey to find empowerment so she can rule justly as a queen. Zegler described the opportunity to modernize the classic movie as a true privilege, highlighting the honor it was to be a part of the project. Development for the live-action Snow White adaptation began in 2016, with Marc Webb signing on as the director three years later.
Snow White was accompanied by Rachel Zegler, the star of the upcoming film, who expressed her excitement at the opportunity to embody the beloved Disney princess. Last June, Gadot and Zegler were revealed as the main leads of the movie. In November, Greta Gerwig came on board to collaborate on writing the screenplay. The cast also includes Andrew Burnap and Martin Klebba, who are set to play the role of Grumpy.
The main stars of the movie, Gadot and Zegler, were revealed in June last year. The start of physical production was originally planned for 2020 but got postponed because of the global pandemic. Filming finally started in March this year and went on for several months until the crew finished up in July. The new live-action version of Snow White is expected to premiere in 2024.
